7 DAYS Tour From Fes To Marrakech Via Merzouga Desert

DAY 1 : FEZ:

After picking you up from the airport, you will be discovering a part of the historical city- Fez (One of the four imperial cities in Morocco). For over 350 years, Fes was the capital city of Morocco. It was founded by Idriss 1 in the 11th century. Souk is one of the places that you will enjoy visiting while you are in Fez. A variety of interesting things are sold there from traditional clothes, carpets, furniture, to a variety of species. The University of Al Karaouine (beside mosques, plazas, museums, neighborhood Andalusians, and potters) is one of the fascinating monuments of Fez. To the record, this university is the first established university in the world according to Guinness record, UNESCO and many other scholars. Having dinner will be at the Riad you checking it.

DAY 2: FEZ – MERZOUGA :

After having breakfast at the hotel, we will start over the trip towards the Sahara Desert. In our journey, we will pass by the Middle Atlas Mountains. We also travel through many interesting places to reach Merzouga :

– Ifrane city (where we will stop) is known for its special,  clean and green environment ( some call it Switzerland of Morocco). In winter it is the direction of many Moroccan people to enjoy the snow.

– Azrou where Cedar Forests is. In Cèdre Gouraud Forest which is located between Azrou and Ifrane. In this place, you will be able to see trees climbed by the Berber apes.

 – Errachidia (known by its trip palm and growing different of fruits trees and vegetables) and Erfoud, which is an oasis town in the Sahara Desert.

When you arrive at your destination (Merzouga), you will enjoy dinner at the hotel.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA:

The plan for this day will be discovering Erg Chebbi. Berber nomads will be pleased to have (serving the well known Saharan mint tea) while you are exploring the area. While you are exploring Erg Chebbi, you will visit Khamlia Village and some other small ancient villages. Then, you will ride camels towards the Sahara desert. After watching the fascinating sunset from high dunes, you will enjoy the night in tent in the middle of the Sahara desert while you are listening to berber music, and gazing at endless.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – TODRA GORGE – DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE :

The destination will be Rissani after having breakfast in Merzouga. Rissani, which is a town in Errachidia Province, is located near Erfoud (most of the people still wear the traditional Saharan dress. Women are veiled, and men are hooded). This town used to be a place for Caravans trading.

The trip will continue to visit the beautiful Oasis of Tinghir. In our way, we will travel through Todgha gorges (the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco). They are a series of limestone river canyons. Hiking is one of the activities most visitors enjoy. In these gorges, you may pass by the nomad who comes down from the mountains for water.

We will resume our tour to Ouarzazate where you will be able to discover many Kasbahs. Ouarzazate is known by its Atlas Cinema Studios. Many films were shot in Ouarzazate (The Hollywood of Africa) such as Gladiator, The Mummy, The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), a part of the TV series Game of Thrones, Troy, etc. The Kasbah of Taourirt will be also visited. It is one of the fascinating Kasbahs. The Kasbah of Taourirt contains about 300 rooms, interesting passageways, steps, and keylock. It is not difficult to be feeling lost in this Kasbah. The night will be spent at the hotel.

DAY 5: Ouarzazate – Marrakech

We will be heading to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou after having breakfast. It is one of the last Berber chieftains during the 18th built by Et Hami El Glaoui. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site composed of kasbahs (forts).

The tour will resume by visiting another Kasbah. It is the Kasbah of Telouet, which is called also the Palace of Glaoui, was established in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Through Tizin Tichca ( one of the famous mountains in Morocco) we will travel. It is the highest mountain (2260 m) before we arrive at Marrakech.

At the riad, you will spend the night.

DAY 6: MARRAKECH CITY TOUR:

In your sixth day from the trip, after having breakfast at the Riad, you will explore Marrakech city. Marrakech is nicknamed “The red city” because of the color of its buildings and surrounding walls. In your journey, you will visit the following interesting monuments and places that Marrakech has:

-Menara gardens which are located in Marrakech city west. They were built in the 12th century.

-The Koutoubia mosque ( One of the largest mosques in Morocco).

 -Medina valleys exploring looking up to the crafts of the skillful artisans.

Bahia Palace is the first one you will visit. It is a 19th-century monument. Later on, you will head to the Saadian tombs which return to the 17th century.

You will also visit the famous Souks where you may want to have something as a memory or as a present for someone special.

Jemaa el Fnaa square. It is a large square place in Marrakesh’s medina. It is also a market in which you can find many interesting products and a variety of delicious local food. Local people and tourists share this place for entertainment. They can, for example, enjoy watching Gnoua dancers, jugglers, artisans, merchants, snake charmers, listen to the storytellers and pass by water sellers.

DAY 7: MARRAKECH – AIRPORT:

Fes Sahara Desert Tour comes to an end in your seventh day. Before we drive to the airport, you will be free.
